Beware of Flowers!

This is my first attempt of shoebox tale, which I created by using a fake shoebox: I built a wooden box looking like a shoebox and covered it with parts of a real shoebox.

This is the story of the creature called "Rodens Lily", half lilis and half rat, which has to learn how to cohesist with her hybrid identity. The beautyness of a flower VS the filty roughness of a rat.

Here is the pattern of the shoebox, which is rough and dirty as if it has been painted in a rush and abandoned in a wide grass field, like a cage for rabbits.

A little herbarium comes with Rodens Lilis' cage.

Here is a detail of her sad, pretty face.

They hang this sign to her cage, reading "Beware of the flowers!"  Like saying: she's not a flower, she's a rat! And rats are extremely aggressive...

In fact they also put mouse traps all around her. Poor Rodens Lily!

"Beware of the flowers!" have been exhibited in a theme show at the gallery "The Hive", Los Angeles downtown, May 2011.

Here is the poster of the exhibition theme show.

And here are some pics of the opening.

I intend to keep working on the life and times of Rodens Lily. Stay tuned!
